Alberta
An Out of Province Vehicle Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into Alberta from the US. A list of designated facilities accredited to complete the safety inspection are here
Manitoba
A Certificate of Inspection (COI) is required for all vehicles being imported into Manitoba from the US. Call Vehicle Standards and Inspections at 204-985-0920 or toll-free 1-866-323-0542 for an inspection station near you.
Ontario
A Safety Standards Certificate is required for all vehicles being imported into Ontario from the US. The inspection can be done at any Canadian Tire location or accredited Motor Vehicle Inspection Station.
Quebec
A Certificate of Mechanical Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into Quebec from the US. A list of designated facilities accredited to complete the safety inspection are here
Newfoundland and Labrador
A Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Certificate is required for all vehicles being imported into Quebec from the US. Most service stations and automotive centres are registered as Official Inspection Stations and are able to issue the inspection certificate required for the transfer of your vehicle.
Saskatchewan
A Vehicle Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into Saskatchewan from the US. A list of designated facilities accredited to complete the safety inspection are here
New Brunswick
A Motor Vehicle Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into New Brunswick from the US. Most licensed mechanics are able to provide this safety inspection.
Nova Scotia
A Vehicle Safety Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into Nova Scotia from the US. Most licensed mechanics are able to provide this safety inspection.
Prince Edward Island (PEI)
A Motor Vehicle Inspection is required for all vehicles being imported into Prince Edward Island (PEI) from the US. The motor vehicle inspection program is delivered by provincially licensed technicians employed at provincially licensed private repair shops throughout the province.
